Beginnings

My name is Melissa, I'm 27 years old and I was born and raised in Northern Rivers NSW. I see my home as Bungawalbin, but have moved around and been back and forth since I was a child. Like so many people from this area, I returned home and wanted to set roots.

I'm a new mother, on maternity leave and loving it. I'm very blessed to have my baby and my partner. I was working as a registered nurse and I'm still deciding if I will continue that when my baby girl is a bit older. One of the big reasons I wanted to start this slow paced, open ideas site/business was because of the consistent cycle of burnout I was experiencing working in healthcare. Every role eventually ended in the same thing: physical and mostly mental burnout. Something I would love to discuss and bring light to.

This website will be an expression of me setting those roots, my family building our home, the constant cycle of rediscovering the self, reflecting on the past, and hopefully connecting with & building a community of open-minded, authentic and empathetic people. I'm not sure how that will look yet - blog posts, photos, videos?, maybe creating a product, discussion forums, women's circles (maybe unisex circles), bush walks, craft days, who knows yet! But it's exciting to finally start this even if it's not polished and perfect. I've been sitting around thinking about it for far too long.
